The job involves supporting land and marine seismic crews throughout Saudi Arabia. We also deliver the final survey positional data to the geophysicists so they can do their role. We’re using new positional technologies in the seismic arena, which is actually going to change the way seismic is done in the future. My area of expertise is in areas where Saudi Aramco currently is not in, we’re out in the deep desert, and we’re in the leading edge of exploration. Saudi Aramco is different just due to the size in our particular industry. The areas that we explore are bigger than anywhere else in the world, that’s what makes the job fantastic.

My name is Andy. I am a Land Surveyor working in Exploration. I’ve been with Saudi Aramco for about 2 years and I’m originally from Hobart, Australia.
The job involves supporting land and marine seismic crews throughout Saudi Arabia. We also deliver the final survey positional data to the geophysicists so they can do their role. We’re using new positional technologies in the seismic arena, which is actually going to change the way seismic is done in the future. We’ve had great opportunities since we joined Saudi Aramco and one of those things has been our ability to do some deep desert camping with friends that we’ve met here. In fact, last year we went 1,000 kilometers off-road for 10 days through the Rub’ al Khali, which is the what they call the empty quarter in Saudi Arabia. One of the benefits of working for Saudi Aramco is that it’s going to provide financial security for me and my family. It’s also given me a chance to spend more time with the kids, in my previous roles I have been very busy, working a lot and traveling a lot. This gives me a chance to be at home and help with homework, do the soccer practice, all those things.
Saudi Aramco is a big company and it looks after its employees, it’s a long way to come to move from your home town into the Middle East, and they go a long way to try and make sure that experience is a good one and they look after people.
