Michelle - Secretary

Hi, my name is Michelle; I work as a Secretary in the Secretarial Services Unit, which is a part of Community Services. I have worked in Saudi Aramco now for almost 3 years and I am originally from Sydney, Australia.

As a Secretary I support Executive Management, which involves working for Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents. On a day-to-day basis I could possibly be answering phones, dealing with clients.

My decision to join Saudi Aramco was based upon me wanting to work overseas again, I actually had two girlfriends, one was British and one was Australian, who were working in Saudi Aramco and they highly influenced me upon making my decision.

Saudi Aramco is fantastic, it’s about the people, its culturally diverse, people from all different backgrounds and it’s just a very unique experience. There’s a great emphasis on training, I have recently completed two courses, first, the NLP course and also the Wellness Champion Course, which was extremely interesting. Outside of work I like to keep fit and exercise, there are lots of classes that I can attend and lots of my work colleagues and friends come along and we train together. There are lots of opportunities to travel within the Middle East, being Saudi Arabia is very central to lots of different locations, such as Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. I recently went on a long weekend to Istanbul, and it was absolutely fantastic.

I would say to anybody wanting to work abroad, come and live the dream, Saudi Aramco is a fantastic company. There are so many opportunities; you meet unique people, you make amazing friends and it’s a really wonderful experience.
